The stuff of nightmares

Friday, August 18th, 2017

Welcome to my blog.  You may have found yourself here because you’ve read my book: ‘Who are You?’ by Megan Henley.  For those that haven’t read it, the book centres itself around the relationship I had with my youngest daughter’s father.  He has antisocial or dissocial personality disorder; new terms for what was once known as a psychopath.  The years I was with him were the stuff of nightmares, quite literally – nightmares which I still have to this day, despite not having seen him in person for almost five years now.

The book has been very successful, and I can tell you it’s a very weird experience to have had tens of thousands of people read your life story!  It’s like allowing a bunch of strangers to read your diary.  Because of the anonymity of the book, no-one apart from my close friends and family know that it is about me.  There have been a couple of times when I’m out and about that I’ve seen people reading my book and I’ve been itching to go and say something, but you know, that’s not a very English thing to do, is it?  So the only non-biased feedback I have is from reviews online, and there’s been some interesting issues raised in them which I will address in future posts.

I’m sure in my posts I will talk about events which happened whilst I was still with my ex; the book covered the key events but lots more happened which is not in there.  However, mostly, I want to talk about what has happened since then, my journey of recovery.  If you’re reading this page because you’re currently, or have recently been, in a relationship with a psychopath, it may seem impossible to imagine ever feeling like yourself again.  I remember those feelings only too well, and I want to say that you WILL get your life back.  You may not be exactly the same as you were before, I think some of the emotional scars left by living with a psychopath are cut too deep to ever truly heal, but you can and will find a place of happiness again.  I don’t have all the answers, and I’m still very much on a healing journey myself, but I know I’ve come a long way, and I can share my story so far with you.

This is really just an introductory post, so I will leave it there for now.  I want to make this blog accessible for anyone, whether or not they have read my book, but if you are interested in reading it, both the physical version and the kindle version are available here:

And I would love to hear from you anytime if you have any questions, either about my book or anything raised in my posts.  My email is
